Supporting the Education & Music of Akemi & Aiko West

Benefit Concert & Fundraiser
Join us for an uplifting evening of music as Akemi & Aiko West, the Williams Family, and other guest musicians share their gifts in support of the girls’ educational and musical journey.
Their Story
A journey of dedication, service, and learning through music
Akemi and Aiko began studying violin in 2019. Their musical journey has included changing instructors, adapting through COVID, and traveling long distances to continue their training. Along the way, Aiko discovered a special love for the cello.
They were eventually referred to Yoshie Muratani in Chico. Yoshie specializes in cello and founded the MTAC Butte Youth Orchestra in 2009. Aiko is now a member of the orchestra, and Akemi plans to join in the spring.
From a young age, Akemi and Aiko have shared music and song at churches, nursing homes, and community events. Music has become not only part of their education, but also a way to serve and encourage others.
Current Academic Studies: This year, the girls enrolled in Remnant Preparatory School, an online Seventh-day Adventist school focused on academic preparation, Christian character, service, and college readiness. They are also concurrently enrolled at Butte Community College, where they are studying American Sign Language and participating in the MakerSpace MSP300 course.
Akemi
Akemi hopes to travel the world studying animals in their natural habitats and pursuing a career in wildlife biology. Her curiosity, discipline in music, and love for nature inspire her vision for scientific exploration and conservation.
Aiko
Aiko has a passion for horses and hopes to ride professionally, earn a degree in Equine Studies, minor in music, and become a songwriter. Her gift on the cello and musical intuition fuel both her performance and her creative compositions.
